Storing Lyophilized Research Peptides in the Lab

Storing Lyophilized Research Peptides in the Lab

For in vitro laboratory research use only. This guide covers storage of lyophilized (freeze-dried) material only. It is not a guide to preparing or using any material, and Peptix makes no claims about the effects of any material it sells.

Peptix research peptides are supplied as lyophilized (freeze-dried) powder. This page covers how lyophilized material is typically stored and recorded in a laboratory.

Storage conditions

Store lyophilized material in a cool, dry place, protected from light and moisture; refrigeration (about 4 掳C) is recommended. Handling is the responsibility of the qualified research facility.

Why light and moisture matter

Lyophilized material is dried to remove water. Keeping vials closed and dry during storage helps limit moisture uptake from the air. Storing vials in their outer box, or in a closed container in the refrigerator, also limits light exposure.

Labels and lot records

  • Keep each vial in its original labeled packaging so the product name and lot number stay with it.
  • Record the lot number, the date received and the storage location in your lab’s inventory system.
  • Match the lot number on the vial to its Certificate of Analysis. The lots listed on our COA page each have a third-party certificate.

When the shipment arrives

Check that the packaging is intact, that the lot number on each vial is legible, and that it appears on our COA page. Then move the vials into storage as described above. If a lot number is missing or doesn’t match, contact Peptix support with your order number before using the material.
